Black tongue – it must be a chow mix!

Most people are familiar with the outstanding characteristic of the Chow breed’s dark blue/black tongue.  Fewer people recognize other breeds can also have darker pigmentation on their tongue. Think of it like a freckle or birthmark on a person.  Here is a small list of just a few other breeds that can also have dark spots on their tongue:
