Announcements

Mountain View Veterinary Services has provided veterinary care for a wide range of species for over 20 years.  We go above and beyond treating each patient as if s/he was our very own.  Over the last several years our veterinary team has experienced the ups and downs of mental health and wellbeing.  We have had our fair share of employee turnover due to personal life changes.  Coming in September, we are facing the loss of a veterinarian.

Dr. Claire Kepner will be ending her time with Mountain View Veterinary Services in early September 2023.  We have been advertising for a veterinarian for 2 years to no avail.  There is a nationwide shortage of veterinarians and veterinary staff.  While we continue to search for the best veterinary member for our team, we will be making the following changes:

  1. We are ending our equine services as of August 31, 2023. Medical records will be available by calling: 717-477-8938, texting: 844-426-9101 or emailing: mvvets@gmail.com. Once requested, records will be emailed to you.  We have reached out to several equine practices in the area that are taking new patients.  You will need to contact them to see if your stable is within their service area. Please do not wait until you have an emergency situation to establish yourself as a client.

Century Equine Veterinary Services 717-360-6035 (Chambersburg and surrounding area)

PenMar Equine 301-639-5563 (may be able to service southern Franklin County)

Windsor Veterinary Service 410-848-1682 (service a 30 mile radius of Westminster, MD)

Green Glen Equine Hospital 717-235-4312 (haul in to Glen Rock, PA)

  1. We are condensing our farm call, house call and herd health schedule.  If you have a standing herd health call, we will be contacting you regarding any change in the day and time of your herd check. On-farm emergency services during our office hours will be limited.  We will do our best to see as many patients as we can.  We hope that these changes will be temporary.
  2. Day admittance (drop off) appointments for small animal patients will be very limited. Emergencies during office hours may be referred to an emergency clinic. We hope that these changes will be temporary.
  3. If you are receiving this letter and no longer use our services, kindly let us know so that we may update our files

While we hope that some of these changes are only temporary, we have no way of knowing how long we will be operating this way.  We appreciate your patience, cooperation and understanding during this transition time. Please be kind to our staff as they navigate the schedule to accommodate you and your pet.

Amy Hinton, DVM and Trent Lartz, DVM.
